Are You a Virgin?

Diawali sebuah tanggapan tentang percakapanku dengan Syifa di Telepon Tak Terduga, seorang teman mengirim pesan kepadaku: sebuah pertanyaan.

"Apa tidak takut kalau dress itu out of date?"

Aku mengerti makna literal out of date, tapi tidak cukup pandai menyimpulkan artinya dalam konteks ini. Ternyata maksudnya pandangan orang yang melihat cara kita memperlakukan dress itu yang out of date.

"These days people think you are so yesterday to consider it is something special and will only wear your dress for somebody beyond special (read: official married husband)."

Masih membicarakan tentang dress.

People have their right to have that idea. We (read: women who consider it is something special) also have the right to be 'so yesterday'. Begitu pikirku.

"Sometimes people think you are talking crap when you say 'I am a virgin'. They will totally hardly believe it."

Balasku: They hardly believe it because most women treat the dress in the second way I wrote in my previous post. Somehow, women who say 'I am a virgin' don't need to convince them.

Apa urusan mereka? Apa untungnya kalau mereka yakin?

"To me it will be something special when you are not virgin anymore, you tell that to your future husband and he frankly says 'I don't give a damn. Your happiness matters'. "

Well, I know she's not a mainstream girl. I am not surprised with her ideas then. :)
Anyway, finding that kind of future husband is just like trying to find a needle in the hay (playing Needle in the Hay by Elliot Smith from my iTunes).

"If they really love their women, they would never matter  if you were in black or white or yellow or anything."

So idealist! It is. We need a huge effort to find that kind of man. One in a million.
In fact, men sometimes are naive. They matter their women's virginity, though they have got their leg over several women!
